As mentioned elsewhere, I practically have OCD about stealing other people's jokes. It will just bug me forever. And not to be conceited, but I have a very unique writing style, which is 1 part actually unique, 1 part lots of versatility by virtue of talking to and reading messages from a lot of extremely varied people in my life, and about 50 billion parts being far past deranged so being able to tap into an ascended level of absurdity.
I'm fascinated with how differently everyone I talk to communicates, and do a fairly good job of talking like they do, which is a strategy I use in real life to make deeper connections. I mean, how many people really want to have a beer with someone who talks like they have a master's degree??? Halfway through completing my grad program, I realized I audibly sounded like an academic, and immediately switched back to how I talked when I had no college education and only pull out my educated voice when I have to.
Anyway, I'm not sure many other people can emulate my writing style or my content in the first place, so generally I have to modify things pretty heavily before using them anyway so they fit to purpose. The ideal is to modify it far past recognition, of course, but if I think an idea is so irresistible I want to break my own rule and use it anyway, that person and joke deserve my respect as a writer. Thus, it needs to be given a full life, with luxuries of its own universe, impact, and, yes, liscient foolishness. It needs to be far more than a tangent or footnote, it must be a seed for its own outlandish passage.
Anyway, if you see something not credited, likely I never heard of it. I barely read or watch any kind of nonfiction media. But you can submit an inquiry anyway, at: cumicsans@gmail.com
